I am a native of Princeton, Iowa, a small town along the Mississippi. It is a pretty town that I left and was drawn back to. Now I live with my husband in my childhood home. Here is where most of the influential people of my life have lived. Some are still here. Princeton is also like other small towns, full of extraordinary people where a lot of American life happens on a daily basis. Both ordinary and visionary.
I bought myself a camera in 2003. The camera became my form of listening because again, I could see the stories and the wishes and regrets and I realized each second of every life is a story. What it has been and what we learn from and what we dream of being. It turns out I am a better listener than storyteller, so I started to paint in 2004. This is how I tell my stories, painting the faces of the activities that tell a story or at least convey a bit of it.
